What the joint venture aims to do

The new company aims to roll out across Bangladesh a social platform for daily life that turns corporate advertising money into funds for people’s food, learning and healthcare. Through a mechanism in which income earned in return for viewing advertisements can be used for daily food, medical costs and learning materials such as textbooks, it takes on the challenge of building a society where everyone can secure the foundations of life and education.

Bringing a model built in Japan to global challenges

In Japan, Wick has operated a social-media-integrated sales platform that returns value to creators with 0% commission, built around a mechanism that lets creators use income from ad views directly as funds for their activities. This joint venture is a challenge to extend the idea of “returning the value each person creates to that person” beyond creator services to society as a whole.

It is also an attempt to develop the ideas of microfinance and social business that Professor Muhammad Yunus demonstrated at Grameen Bank into a form that anyone can practice on a digital foundation.

Joint venture name (as stated in the press release):

Grameen-Wick SPARK
(Social Platform for Advancement, Resilience and Knowledge)
